Originally a project of University of Central Florida's Downtown Media Arts Center, the Film Slam seemed fated to end when DMAC closed. The local filmmaking community and FilmSlam organizers John Thiesen and Brian Feldman came to the Enzian with a request to continue the monthly screenings of local filmmakers' projects. As a result, Enzian will continue the program to focus on the growing number of indie and student filmmakers in the State of Florida. FilmSlam is held on the second Sunday of each month at 1:00 PM.

Episode 20: NYC Author Eve Lederman
(38:49) Eve Lederman is the author of the book "Letters from My Sister: On Love, Life and Hair removal" available on Amazon.com and New York City Barnes & Noble locations. Lederman describes the book she wrote with her sister like this: "Letters From My Sister is a memoir of our lives in progress comprising a collection of correspondence. Our offbeat adventures run the gamut from men to careers to hair removal, and we blame all our frustrations and fears on our Jewish mother who used to buy an entire tongue pickled from the butcher. She’d plop the whole organ down on the table like an autopsy. We were traumatized by that tongue."
Michael Molyneux, staff editor of the City section of the The New York Times said “The Lederman sisters serve up a warm slice of life on the edge, with an edge. A thoroughly enjoyable tale of urban escapades.” Matthew Cooper, White House correspondent for Time Magazine called the book “A racy conversation worth wiretapping, and an uproarious celebration of free speech.” And Wayne Fisk, Director of Programming for ABC Broadcasting called it “An entertaining and tantalizing literary lap dance.”

Host Mark Baratelli's appearance on 91.5
(39:26) Hi this is Mark Baratelli, the host of the Orlando Arts Podcast. I had the opportunity to appear as a guest on the radio show called "Life in Stages," hosted by Scottie Campbell on 91.5 FM, a radio station based at Rollins College in Orlando, Florida. We talked about the 2007 Orlando Fringe Festival, new ideas for it from me, Beth Marshall and the patrons responding on the Official Orlando Fringe Blog, my show Improv Cabaret going to San Francisco and New York City and me going on tour in August with the "I Love a Piano" national tour.
The recording you hear was done on my laptop in the studio while the interview was happening live on the radio, so you don't get that "radio quality" audio. I would have just linked to their podcast version of the show, but they don't podcast yet.

Podcamp NYC
(35:03) John C Havens is the lead organizer of Podcampnyc and the writer of the Podcasting Section of About.com. This is a great interview for those unfamiliar with podcasting who want to know what it can do for you and why others are so excited about it. This interview also a great introduction to the emerging ideas of barcamp and unconferences. I picture this episode being great for those arts organizations who've heard about these concepts but have yet to implement them.

Podcast Plays bring theatre online
(24:11) Podcast Plays' producer Patrick Flick and co-producer David Lee sit down with host Mark Baratelli to discuss podcasting, play writing, and the process of getting theatre content created, produced and placed online.
Podcast Plays was presented in the Shakespeare Festival Building as a special presentation for patrons of "Playfest," a large national playwriting festival, to listen to and enjoy in between "Playfest" performances. The Podcast Plays were placed on ipods donated by the Millenia Mall Apple Store, written by UCF Directing students and produced by Patrick Flick. I was lucky enough to be a part of this project, as Flick asked me to add sound effects to the plays, once they were recorded. According to Flick, the plays will be online soon.

Broadway's "The Light in the Piazza" National Tour
Chris Danner is the Company Manager for the National Tour of "The Light in the Piazza." He works for the NETworks production company, bringing several tours to Orlando and all across the country. With many duties, Chris managed to find the time to sit down and share what it's like living on the road, why he does what he does and how much the set for "Light in the Piazza" cost. (You won't believe it!) We taped the interview in his office backstage at the Bob Carr. During the interview, Piazza star Christine Andreas walked into the office! We didn't get a chance to speak with her, but it was a thrilling moment nonetheless.
